At the center of Okinawa, the Sakamemachi Arcade located in Asato, Naha city, which is a small but good and old arcade mixed with many back alleys, rooted into daily lives of the local. The very center of this Sakaemachi Arcade with deep and nostalgic atmosphere is the place where “HIMEYURI PEACE HALL” is situated.
The Sakaemachi Arcade is the place where “Okinawa Shihan’s Women’s School” and “Okinawa Daiichi Women’s High School”, which the Himeyuri Student Corps were from, are located. The Himeyuri Doso Kaikan was established at this location by Himeyuri Peace Foundation in 1967 as the base of construction activities for Himeyuri Peace Museum. The second floor of this building is currently used as “HIMEYURI PEACE HALL”.
沖縄の中心地、那覇市安里にある栄町市場。 路地裏が多く混在し、人々の生活の中にある古き良き小さな商店街。 このディープでノスタルジックな雰囲気ただよう栄町市場の真ん中に『ひめゆりピースホール』はあります。
栄町市場はひめゆり学徒隊の母校である「沖縄師範学校女子部（女師）」や「県立第一高等女学校（一高女）」があった場所。 この場所にひめゆり平和祈念財団が１９６７年にひめゆり同窓会館を建て、ひめゆり平和祈念資料館建設活動の拠点となりました。 この建物の２階が現在の『ひめゆりピースホール』です。
